Confidence Comes in All Shapes and Sizes: Finding your ‘why’ is the first step towards feeling beautiful
In my many years as an Aesthetic Physician, working for a wide variety of clients with diverse stories and backgrounds, I’ve learned lessons about the relationship between how people feel and how they see themselves. One of the most important parts of my job is understanding why my clients want to proceed with their treatment plan before we start. Not only is this a critical step to get to know my clients better, but it also allows me to understand their motivation and give them the best care.
Empowerment and an increased sense of confidence, starts by looking within.
Much of the time, a client’s ‘why’ boils down to self-confidence. Perhaps they want to change something about the way they look, or slow down the aging process. These are all valid reasons to seek an Aesthetic Physician. My goal, however, is to get to the root of each client's self-confidence to make sure that they are undertaking the best treatments to bring out their unique beauty.
Beauty routines, cosmetic treatments, and self-care can all have a dark side. When one believes that they need to conform to a certain standard set by society, there is the potential for taking things too far in the name of beauty. The standards set by advertising, social media, and the film industry are changing, and there have been strides by many industries to become more inclusive and responsive to changing perceptions of beauty. In general, however, this is not the case. So many people today, particularly young people, are faced with images and standards that they can’t relate to and will never meet.
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to feeling your best or feeling “beautiful”.
Many of the treatments I offer are simply intended to enhance already healthy and thriving aspects of your appearance, not to alter them. This is precisely why understanding your level of self-confidence and asking yourself why you feel you need to change parts of yourself should always be your first step.
